The Dating Coach

One of the first businesses I started back in the late 1980’s was a computer dating agency. It’s to my eternal regret that I didn’t stick with it through to the internet dating age, where numerous fortunes have been made. And it’s not just the agencies that are raking it in. There are now a whole range of ‘dating coaches’ who have set up in business to help people (mainly men) get success with online dating.

Scott Valdez founded Virtual Dating Assistants in the United States in 2009. It now employs 35 people, 15 of whom are writers. They write profiles and even take over the whole communication process for,  what I’d assume are,  ‘personality-challenged’ clients. The average client spends $2,000 with the company.

Is this a business idea you could copy? If you have an affinity with people and some decent writing skills, there’s no reason why not. Dating isn’t going away any time soon!
